What is the route like, and what type of terrain can be expected?
Overall, cycling routes in southern Portugal’s Algarve offer a diverse range of experiences, from leisurely coastal rides to more challenging mountainous terrain, ensuring that there’s something for every cyclist to enjoy. The road conditions are very good, with routes boasting smooth asphalt. That said, no environment is without the occasional speed bump or road repair, so guests should use discretion with regard to road conditions and the surrounding environment. The driving culture in Portugal is very relaxed. We assure you that, in the situations where traffic is present, the drivers are patient when passing and contribute to a comfortable experience when cycling in traffic is necessary.
How is navigation handled (GPS, maps, etc.)?
Our guided tours offer routes led by our experienced guides who have scoured the region for the smoothest, quietest and most picturesque routes. We provide guests with garmin gps guided routes as well as hard copy maps for reference on self guided tours.

We pick up guests at Faro airport, then transfer guests and luggage to their first of the two destinations incorporated on the tour. When we move from our first town destination to the second town on day 3 or 4, guests will cycle from one town to the next and their luggage will be transferred by Cadence Cycle Tours staff to be waiting at their second destination upon guests arrival. If individuals choose not to cycle on that day we will arrange for their transfer to the next town as well. We will transfer guests back to Faro airport at the end of the tour as well if needed.
